Wireless Update – Action Required

Please review this important information for anyone who uses the “UNCG-FacultyStaffStudent” wireless network!

Updates to the “UNCG-FacultyStaffStudent” wireless network will occur on Wednesday, February 8th, between 6:30 am and 7:00 am.  After the updates are complete, you may need to reconfigure your computer to access this network.  Follow the instructions below to reconfigure your computer.

Note: This information also applies to the “JSNN-FacultyStaffStudent” network.  Please follow the instructions below to reconfigure your computer.

Windows 7

You may bring your computer to campus any time after the wireless updates are completed on Feb. 8th at 7 am to complete these instructions.

At first, your computer will attempt to connect to UNCG-FacultyStaffStudent as it normally does.  You will see a Windows Security – Network Authentication window prompting for your username and password, but you will be unable to login because the wireless network certificate has been updated.

Simply follow these instructions to reconnect to wireless using the UNCG XpressConnect software:  Connect to the Wireless Network with Windows 7.

Note: In Step 4 (see picture below), be sure to select “click here to use XpressConnect” under Option 1.  Then continue with the instructions to configure your wireless profile using XpressConnect.


Windows XP

You may bring your computer to campus any time after the wireless updates are completed on Feb. 8th at 7 am to complete these instructions.

At first, your computer will attempt to connect to UNCG-FacultyStaffStudent as it normally does.  You will see a pop-up message in your System Tray: “Click here to select a certificate or other credentials for connection to the network UNCG-FacultyStaffStudent.”

After clicking the message, you will be presented with an Enter Credentials dialog box, but any attempt to login will fail.

Simply follow these instructions to reconnect to wireless using the UNCG XpressConnect software:  Connect to the Wireless Network with Windows XP

Note: In Step 4 (see picture below), be sure to select “click here to use XpressConnect” under Option 1.  Then continue with the instructions to configure your wireless profile using XpressConnect.

 

Mac

You may bring your computer to campus any time after the wireless updates are completed on Feb. 8th at 7 am to complete these instructions.

At first, your computer will attempt to connect to UNCG-FacultyStaffStudent as it normally does. You will get an “Authentication Failed” message.

Simply follow these instructions to reconnect to wireless using the UNCG XpressConnect software: Connect to the Wireless Network on a Mac.

Note: In Step 3 (see picture below), be sure to select “click here to use XpressConnect” under Option 1. Then continue with the instructions to configure your wireless profile using XpressConnect.
