Information Technology Services

In response to faculty and student interest, Information Technology Services (ITS) has negotiated terms of service for UNCG use of Dedoose qualitative data analysis (QDA) software. As a web-based package, benefits of Dedoose include access from any location and support for simultaneous coding of project data by multiple team members.

The new contract enables use of Dedoose in accordance with the State of NC law and meets the requirements of UNCG’s Contract Review Policy. Project and/or individual users remain responsible responsible for the cost of the software, but ITS is investigating opportunities for volume discounts. Currently, Dedoose is approved for use with low or minimal risk university data. For use with data of greater risk, please contact 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH (8324) or 6-TECH@uncg.edu.

Increasing faculty interest in Dedoose was identified through the Qualitative Data Analysis Product Study in 2015. Based on results of that study, ITS is continuing support for Atlas.ti as well as adding support for Dedoose. As previously announced, NVivo will be removed from the UNCG network in July, 2017, and no longer supported by ITS. To learn more about Dedoose, visit http://www.dedoose.com.
