Who: Users of G-Suite Services (Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, etc.) through a Chrome Browser

What: An additional security verification screen during log on

When: Monday, May 7 or soon after

Why: Mandatory feature change implemented by Google to enhance account security

On May 7th, or soon after, Google is releasing a feature in the Chrome browser so that users logging in via single-sign-on will see an additional verification screen when they access G-Suite services, such as Gmail, Calendar and Drive.

The purpose of this screen is to help prevent users from unknowingly signing into a malicious account.  The screen asks the user to verify the account address. UNCG users should verify that the correct account is presented by Google during login. If the account listed matches their UNCG account information, then click “Continue.”

If the account listed is not correct, the user should click “I don’t recognize this account” and immediately report the incident to 6-TECH. If possible, the user should send a screenshot to help ITS troubleshoot the issue.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH (8324) or
