Screenshot of Hangout meets on mobile phoneEarlier this year, Google launched Hangouts Meet, which is a new video conferencing offering.  It can be accessed via meet.google.com in Google Chrome, Firefox, or via mobile apps.

Starting Thursday, May 24th, new UNCG iSpartan Google Calendar events will use Hangouts Meet. Existing calendar events that include video conferencing will continue to use classic Hangouts until later in 2018.

Like Classic Hangouts, Hangouts Meet can accommodate 25 guests. Guests without Google accounts can join via a meeting code or unique URL. Guests can also join by way of a dial-in number, or be called from within a hangout (dial-out). Compare the two offerings here: https://support.google.com/a/answer/7303775?hl=en

Hangouts Meet is more mobile friendly and, in addition to support for Android, it offers an improved iOS app, tablet support and higher resolution. Hangouts Meet is better integrated with Hangouts Chat, Google’s latest Chat offering (chat.google.com).
