Who: All faculty and staff who use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client for remote access
What: Planned maintenance for AnyConnect SSL VPN service
When: Thursday, February 7, 2019, 5:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.
ITS is moving the Cisco AnyConnect SSL VPN service to a new appliance. The SSL VPN service will be unavailable during the maintenance window.
This change affects faculty and staff only.
After the change is completed, there will be two features that are no longer supported.
- WebPortal – Known as clientless SSL VPN. This feature allows VPN connectivity through your internet web browser without the need for the AnyConnect software to be installed on the computer.
- WebLaunch – This feature is a method of installing the AnyConnect client directly from the VPN appliance.
Client Action Required
The method for connecting to the VPN service will not change. You will continue to use sslvpn.uncg.edu. If you’ve done this in the past, GCN-VPN will be the short name for this connection, and that’s what you should see in the connection window.
If you experience issues connecting to AnyConnect after the change, please restart your computer and attempt to reconnect. If you continue to have difficulty connecting to the VPN service, please contact 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH (8324) or 6-TECH@uncg.edu.
