CHECK YOUR PRIVACY SETTINGS

Sally knows that oversharing on social media can have long-term consequences. She double-checks her privacy settings for her internet accounts monthly.

Sally un-tags herself from photos where multiple people are tagged because she read that, if others in the photo have loose privacy settings, her privacy can be compromised as well.

SHARE WITH CARE

When Anne posts online, she considers what a post says, who might see it, and how it could be perceived now and in the future.

When Anne submitted her resumé for her dream job, she imagined that there was a lot of competition. Still, she was confident about her social media presence and wasn’t worried about employers seeing the photos from her sister’s wedding reception.

KEEP A CLEAN MACHINE

Dontae keeps both his computer and mobile devices updated with the latest operating systems and web browsers because being on top of updates is the best defense against viruses, malware, and other online threats.

Because Dontae keeps his system updated, he is protected from the majority of online threats. He spends less time fighting with his devices and more time skateboarding! He is also the envy of his peers at UNCG because his presentations always showcase the latest apps.
