What: Installation of Microsoft patch to address recent vulnerabiity and associated printing issues
When: Tuesday, October 19, 2021
On Tuesday, October 19, Information Technology Services (ITS) will install a Microsoft patch that addresses the recent “PrintNightmare” vulnerability (CVE-2021-34527).
This patch was originally installed on September 21, but was rolled back when it caused unexpected issues with printing.
Computers running older OS versions were affected, including Macs running Catalina and older and PCs not running Windows 10, version 20H2.
If you have a computer running an older OS version as described above, you should take action before October 19 to avoid any disruption with printing to UNCG networked computers.
- For Windows computers: Upgrade to Windows 10, version 20H2.
- For Mac computers: See Printing from a Domain-Bound Mac Running Big Sur and follow the instructions to “Reconfigure Printer.”
