Who: Campus phone users
What: Planned downtime for the campus phone system
When: Thursday, February 10, 2022, 4:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Why: Migrating UNCG’s phone numbers from AT&T to SEGRA as part of the last phase of the telephone-migration project that moves UNCG to a newer, more modern phone provider
Information Technology Services (ITS) is pleased to announce that the AT&T-SEGRA phone-service migration will occur outside of business hours.
New date and time: Thursday, February 10, 2022, between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
The end-user experience will remain unchanged. Microsoft Teams will continue to be UNCG’s phone application. This transition is changing UNCG’s phone-service provider, but this does not change how phone service will be accessed and utilized.
UNCG phone service will not be available during the migration. This includes UNCG police department’s non-emergency number, 334-5963. UNCG Police Department’s emergency line, 334-4444, will continue to be available.
There is a possibility that a small number of phone lines will not migrate correctly. These phone lines will be corrected as soon as possible during business hours on February 10. If you experience calls not going through or if you do not receive calls after the migration, please contact 6-TECH immediately.
Emergency phone lines that operate on the AT&T Centrex system such as fire alarms, elevators, areas of rescue, and most blue towers will not be affected by this change and will continue to operate as normal.
If you have questions or need more information, please contact 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH (8324) or 6-TECH@uncg.edu.

POSTPONED: CAMPUS PHONE SYSTEM MIGRATION
Information Technology Services (ITS) postpones the phone-service migration from AT&T to SEGRA that was previously scheduled for January 27, 2022.
During the testing phase, ITS found technical issues that need to be resolved before migrating the service. Resolving these issues with the vendors ensures the smoothest transition possible.
At this time, there is no new date. As soon as a seamless migration can be assured, the migration will be rescheduled.

Who: Campus phone users
What: Planned downtime for the campus phone system
When: Thursday, January 27, 2022, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Why: Moving phone numbers from our current service provider (AT&T) to our new service provider (SEGRA)
Migrating UNCG’s phone numbers from AT&T to SEGRA is the last phase of the telephone-migration project that moves UNCG to a newer, more modern phone provider.
On Thursday, January 27, 2022, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., the migration will occur.
During this time, calls to and from UNCG phone numbers will be intermittently unavailable, and outages are expected during the day.
While the migration is in process, please make alternative communications plans to reach University offices i.e. email, chatbot, or video conferencing.
We recognize that this interruption in service is far from ideal, but it is unavoidable. UNCG must work within the scheduling provided by AT&T, which restricts this work to their regular business hours. Although the timing is out of UNCG’s control, ITS will work as efficiently as possible with AT&T and SEGRA to make this outage as brief as possible.
Emergency lines that operate on the AT&T Centrex system such as fire alarms lines, elevator lines, area of rescue, and most blue towers will not be affected by this change and will continue to operate as normal.
Additional communication regarding this migration will be sent to campus as the migration date approaches.
If you have questions or need more information, please contact 6-TECH at (336) 256-TECH (8324) or 6-TECH@uncg.edu.
