Who: Students, Faculty, and Staff

What: Banner ERP and ERP applications resume normal operations

When: Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at noon

Why: Banner applications and Oracle databases were successfully migrated to a new cloud environment over the weekend

Key users in each department verified the applications have access and connectivity to the new cloud environment. Some important but non-critical issues remain, and the migration team is working to resolve them as soon as possible.

Who: Students, faculty, and staff

What: Planned downtime for Banner and associated applications, including UNCGenie, Schedule Hero, and Degree Works

When: Friday, November 18, 2022, 5:00 p.m. until Tuesday, November 22, 2022, noon

Why: Banner applications and Oracle databases are being migrated to a new cloud environment 

The following services will not be available:

  • UNCGenie 
    • Student functions
      • Including course registration, transcript requests, advising information, financial aid details and document uploads, billing/payment, changes to majors/minors, and updates to contact information. 
    • Faculty and staff functions
      • including advising tools, course/classroom scheduling, overrides/exceptions/approvals for course registration, transfer articulation, new transcript requests, viewing/lifting holds, changes to majors/minors, and HR functions. 
      • All staff functions will be unavailable.
  • Reporting
    • All reporting for Banner/ODS will be unavailable.
  • DegreeWorks 
    • including progress toward a degree and “What If” reports.
  • Schedule Hero 
    • including Fall and Spring course schedules, new registrations, and changes to existing schedules.
  • CAT and CIM (online course catalog)
    • including new/amended course and curriculum updates.

This final migration is scheduled to take place during the weekend of Friday, November 18, 2022, outside of business hours to minimize operational impact. However, there will be downtime during the business day on Monday, November 21, 2022, for post-migration testing. Key users in each department will test the environment after the migration to confirm access and connectivity to the new cloud environment.

On November 22nd, 2022 at noon, the new Banner Cloud environment will begin normal operations.
