Beginning Monday, March 4, 2024, the Microsoft Authenticator app will enhance security by showing the name of the service you’re accessing.

For instance, when logging into Canvas, ServiceNow, or Microsoft Teams, their names will appear in the app. Some services like Banner might show “Shibboleth” instead. This feature helps verify the authenticity of Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) requests.

Report any unexpected MFA prompts with unrecognized or odd service names by selecting “NO, IT’S NOT ME” and report them as suspicious.
